Sea turtles play a critical role in the health of our oceans. Learn about these fascinating creatures from one of our passionate instructors, and then enjoy a two-tank dive charter and see them for yourself in their natural environment.

Jupiter, Florida has the second-highest nesting population in the world. That means divers are likely to encounter sea turtles whenever they dive, particularly from March to October during breeding and nesting season. Among the many things you’ll learn about sea turtles is how to identify the three species commonly found along the Treasure Coast—green, loggerhead, and hawksbill. A fourth species, the leatherback, also nests in the area, but is far less common.

It's no secret that because of their love of the ocean, divers often become some of the staunchest marine advocates. Jupiter Dive Center shares that enthusiasm and we believe that the more you know about a species, the more you’ll appreciate each encounter with these incredible creatures.

What to Expect 

• Learn the role sea turtles play in the marine environment
• Discover the issues sea turtles face
• Recognize the steps divers can take to protect sea turtles

All Jupiter Dive Center charters are drift dives, and each diver must have their own surface marker buoy and a computer.

Prerequisite.

Divers must present their Open Water and Nitrox certification cards at check-in.

The Details

• Classroom at Jupiter Dive Centers storefront location at 10:00 AM
• Check-in for the two-tank dive is at 12:20 which leaves from the Jupiter Dive Center charter location 
• Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver and a Nitrox certification are required
• Students will receive a Sea Turtle Awareness certification
