The Best Way to Beat the Heat

Come Diving with Jupiter Dive Center!

Summer is here, but you can beat the heat with Jupiter Dive Center! Memorial Day is right around the corner and Jupiter, Florida is a great getaway location. Whether you want to cool off in a classroom and earn a new certification or plunge into one of our specialty dives, there’s plenty to do this summer with Jupiter Dive Center!

As the seasons change, Jupiter Dive Center chooses dive sites known for certain marine life, and during the summer that means sea turtles and goliath groupers. All of our charters can be found on our Book A Dive page—and we’ll talk about a couple of the sites in a bit. But what truly makes those dives special is when you have a deeper understanding of the sea life you’re encountering. Did you know five species of turtles visit Jupiter? What about the reason why huge numbers of goliaths congregate in our waters? Do you know how to read a shark’s body language? Read on.

Sea Turtle Specialty Courses

Now is the perfect time to brush up on your turtle identification. Sea turtle nesting season is in full swing and a nine-mile stretch of sand off Jupiter just happens to be one of the world’s premiere nesting sites! Jupiter Dive Center partners with Loggerhead Marinelife Center, the highly respected leaders in sea turtle education, research, and rehabilitation to help ensure that the magnificent turtles we see today continue to delight divers well into the future.

Together we offer a one-day Sea Turtle Awareness program to educate divers and non-divers alike on sea turtle identification, the critical role they play in the marine ecosystem, and steps you can take that focus on conservation.

The morning is spent in our classroom, then, certified divers will enjoy a two-tank dive charter with Jupiter Dive Center to see the sea turtles for themselves in their natural environment!

Shark Specialty Course

“Did you see any sharks?”  It’s one of the most common questions that non-divers ask divers. Fortunately, if you dive with Jupiter Dive Center, the answer is often a resounding Yes! The first time you see a shark in close proximity, it’s an adrenaline rush. Sharks can be big, nimble, and intimidating. The best way to combat fear is to learn the facts.

Shark Specialty Course: July 28th

Goliath Grouper Specialty Course

Jupiter Dive Center is proud to offer an exclusive Goliath Grouper Specialty course where you will learn all about goliath grouper identification, habitat, range, diet, and role in the marine ecosystem. It starts in the classroom in the morning. Then in the afternoon, it’s off on our boats for a two-tank charter where you get to put your newfound knowledge to use accompanied by your instructor. Divers who complete both portions of the class will receive a Goliath Grouper Specialty certification.

Goliath Grouper Specialty Classes: August 17th, 31st, and September 7th.

And now that you’ve brushed up on your identification skills, there are plenty of opportunities to put them into action by heading out to the reefs to spot sea turtles or book a charter on the Wreck Trek to dive with goliath groupers!

The Wreck Trek

Goliath Groupers aggregate in the waters off Jupiter, Florida and if you’ve never seen a gathering of goliaths, you’re in for a treat!

In a nutshell, the Wreck Trek is a series of wrecks that include the Zion Train, Miss Jenny, and the ESSO Bonaire.

The wrecks offer goliaths large nooks and crannies where they can hide and the wrecks have become the most popular aggregation site in Palm Beach County!

Loggerhead Dive Site

Named after the sea turtles that frequent the area during nesting season, this dive site is a favorite for anyone wanting to see sea turtles on their dives. And honestly, who doesn’t? May through August is peak season!

Blue Heron Bridge and Catos

Octopuses. Batfishes. Spotted eagle rays. Frog fishes. Seahorses. Flying gurnards. Seeing any one of these marine animals on a dive would be an exciting sight. Now imagine encountering them all in one dive. Welcome to Blue Heron Bridge!

The Blue Heron Bridge dive site at Phil Foster Park was named the best dive site in the world(!) in PADI’s Sport Diver magazine in 2013, and since then, it’s only become more popular.

Shallow water means plenty of bottom time to explore the site—and the diversity of marine life will keep you coming back.

The Bridge, as it’s known to locals, is the premiere shore dive site for underwater photographers and is a great destination to see marine life not commonly found elsewhere. In addition to the local residents, you never know when a manatee or hammerhead decides to cruise through—again! We’re happy to schedule this whenever you’d like, but check our schedule for guided night dives!

Vacationing with someone who doesn’t dive? Blue Heron Bridge is a great place to snorkel with a dedicated snorkel trail and easy entry. And there’s plenty of sand if they want to spread a towel and work on their tan!

But for a true local’s place to snorkel, grab one of our guides and check out Cato’s Bridge which spans the Intracoastal waterway!
